Carrots should be direct sown, in loose or freshly tilled soil. Plant once the threat of frost has passed, and the soil has started to warm and can be worked.
Planting should be done with carrots planted or thinned out to 2-4” apart, with the seeds buried ¼ inch deep. Rows of seeds should be spaced 1 to 2 feet apart. Keep seeds moist until germination, a daily watering may be necessary. Sow more seeds several weeks later throughout the season for a continuous harvest.
Carrots are more usually ready once the tops start to pop above the soil.
