Scientific Name: Leonotis nepetifolia
Lion’s ear is a tall annual with a long bloom period which is native to tropical Africa and Southern India. This plant is an absolute Hummingbird magnet! At 10-12 feet tall it can be easily be seen by them and by you! The leaves and flowers contain stachydrine and leonurine which is said to calm the nerves and produces a mild euphoria. A tea made from this is said to heal burns, ease symptoms of fever or cold, and can combat malaria. There is a long list of potential medicinal uses for Leonitus Nepetifolia.

Recommended Uses: leaves are brewed as a tea for fever, coughs, womb prolapse and malaria

Growing Instructions:
Sow seeds at a depth of about 1/8”. It is best to start seeds indoors and move outside. An ideal transplant size for leonitis nepetifolia plants is about 4-5”. For the most part , klip Dagga seeds germinate easily and hold viability well. Water thoroughly every 1-3 days and keep in a well-draining soil. Fertilizing is optional.
